How to Become a Member
Membership Application:
Individuals:
There are several grades of membership:
For full details please read the constitution.
Student Member - Only for fulltime students at recognised SA universities
Graduate Member <30 - Applicant should have a Chemical Engineering degree or diploma at a recognised SA University or University of Technology. Under the age of 30
Graduate Member >30 - Same as the above, but the applicant is 30 years old or older
Member - The applicant shall be at least 25 years of age, have the relevant chemical engineering qualification AND have at least 3 years working experience
Fellow - Applicant shall have been a Member for at least 3 years, has occupied a position of superior responsibility in chemical engineering for at least 5 years
Hon. Fellow - Members cannot apply. They are nominated.

Fax /email/post us the completed application form in black ink with a copy of your graduation certificate. No fees are due until membership application has been approved. Click here for the Student Membership Application Form
Only fulltime students may apply for this grade. To apply, please fax/post us the completed application form with a copy of your deposit slip. Company Membership:

Applications for Company Membership shall be made on the prescribed form and signed by an authorised official of the company. The original signed application form shall be posted to SAIChE. A copy may be faxed/emailed to SAIChE to get the process going. Membership Fees:
Our financial year runs from June till May the following year.
Invoices are posted to members early June.
